Evoking a blend of eastern and western cultures, this elegant necklace is made from dyed copper and brown natural kishi pearls hand-knotted on silk and secured with a handmade sterling-silver clasp designed to replicate the shape of the pearls. Kishi pearls are made when the oyster rejects the nucleus before the pearl is developed, or when the nucleus fractures and forms two separate pearl sacs, neither with a nucleus. As a result, each kishi pearl is unique in shape and color.
