Aleksandr Rodchenko: Experiments for the Future (HC)
Diaries, Essays, Letters, and Other Writings. Translated by Jamey Gambrell
The Russian artist Aleksandr Rodchenko arrived in Moscow in 1915, and after the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917 became a key figure in the avant-garde movement, contributing lasting innovations to nearly every field of visual art. As a theorist, teacher, and tireless organizer of groups, publications, and exhibitions, he played a major role in the new artistic institutions that sprang up in the wake of the Revolution. First published in Russian in 1996, Experiments for the Future presents a great variety of texts spanning Rodchenko's adult life, including much previously unpublished material. Edited by Alexander N. Lavrentiev, the artist's grandson. Includes 122 black-and-white illustrations.
