Akari Paper Lantern Table Lamp
Isamu Noguchi, 1952
This iconic table lamp blends traditional Japanese handicraft with modernist style. A multifaceted artist and designer, Noguchi was first inspired to create his Akari lamp series after a trip to Gifu, Japan during which he noticed lanterns illuminating night fishing along the Nagara River. This lamp with a tripod base is hand made in Japan of washi paper and bamboo ribbing that is supported by a metal frame. Requires one 40-watt bulb (not included). Simple assembly required.
